Casilino Sky Park is a 3,800-square-meter space located on the uncovered fourth floor of a disused multi-story parking garage, reclaimed as a recreational gathering place that blends environmental sustainability, inclusion and accessibility, art, culture and sports.

The challenge of Casilino Sky Park

In the heart of the 5th Municipality, one of the most densely populated in Rome, stood a multi-story neighborhood parking lot whose top floor was totally unused. IGT, a world leader in regulated gaming and supporter of the initiative, approached us as a vertical partner on sustainability issues to implement an urban redevelopment impact project with social and environmental benefits on the whole local community.

In the heart of the 5th Municipality, one of the most densely populated in Rome, stood a multi-story neighborhood parking lot whose top floor was totally unused. IGT, a world leader in regulated gaming and supporter of the initiative, approached us as a vertical partner on sustainability issues to implement an urban redevelopment impact project with social and environmental benefits on the whole local community.

The solution

Casilino is the first Italian sky park for the residents of the Alessandrino, Centocelle, Torre Maura and Torre Spaccata neighborhoods. In addition to redeveloping the area, it is a candidate to become a unique and livable meeting point for the inhabitants of these neighborhoods, an urban context that at tually has only six squares and of modest size (as opposed to 144 in the historic center) that, moreover, rise in non-strategic and transit places.

The solution

The activity

Casilino Sky Park hosts sports fields and innovative educational activities are planned for children. A summer arena hosts shows, cinema and book presentations. The Casilino Sky Park is enriched with works executed by three internationally renowned street art and public art artists: Alice Pasquini who signed the vertical surfaces, Giulio Vesprini and Uno, who painted their art on the playing fields and the perimeter viewing track. All vertical walls were painted with Airlite, a paint that incorporates air-purifying technology from pollutants.
